George Fredrics hard at work on his regular 'gossip' column for the Army newspaper.
George served his country with pride and honor during World War II, where he was stationed in a variety of locations, including Peyote, TX, Ardmore, OK, and the Aleutian Islands. He was a Staff Seargant in the U.S. Army Intelligence Corps, and was awarded medals for Good Conduct as well as for his expert marksmanship.

At the same time, he was in charge of arranging entertainment for his comrades, including procurement of an assortment of unusual films, not all of which could be classified as 'highbrow'.

He provided his own unique form of entertainment directly to the troops by presenting magic and hypnotism shows.

And he wrote regular gossip and humor columns for the Army newspaper, while always attempting to keep the spirits of his comrades high with jokes and funny stories.
